History

The name Tirecraft originated in Vernon, BC in 1968 where a store called Peter’s Tirecraft started in the tire business. It wasn’t until 1984 that our first store in Ponoka, Alberta started up as Town & Country Tire and it wasn’t until 1990 that we purchased the Tirecraft name from the store in Vernon. So when you put it all together the name Tirecraft has been around since 1968 and the organization has been around since 1984.

Initially, our primary focus was on rural outlets, but the program expanded to urban areas in Alberta, followed by locations in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, the Yukon and now the Maritimes.

One thing is definite; Tirecraft is a national entity today. Whether we measure our time in the business from 1968 or 1984 we’ve grown and grown rapidly from a single store called Town & Country Tire in Ponoka, Alberta to a national company encompassing a corporate, company-owned program and an associate, independently-owned program.

Thanks to the strength of our corporate and associate programs, Tirecraft has over 200 locations across Canada. It’s been an exciting road we’ve traveled, and we look forward to the journey ahead.
