TIRECRAFT RAISES AWARENESS FOR BREAST CANCER
STORES ACROSS CANADA UNITE

During the month of October Tirecraft locations across Canada united to raise awareness and support for Breast Cancer research.

Breast Cancer is a disease that shows no prejudice inflicting both women and men, young and old. You would be hard pressed to find any one who does not know, or know of, a person who has been affected by this disease.” stated David Cosco, President, Tirecraft Auto Centers.

Many of Tirecraft’s locations across Canada participated in the CIBC Run for the Cure held on October 3rd. For those stores unable to access a Run for the Cure site, many held their own event. “We are truly gratified and inspired by the efforts made by many of our stores in coordinating their own event. Our Outlook, Saskatchewan store alone had over 150 participants at their event.” added Cosco.

Tirecraft raised in excess of $60,000 in this their 1st year with over 1300 employees, families, friends, business associates and customers participating. “We are looking forward to continuing with these efforts in support of breast cancer research. The momentum and support generated through our stores has established a great foundation which we will continue to build upon in hope of finding a cure.” said Cosco.

Tirecraft is a Canadian owned company based in Sherwood Park, Alberta specializing in tires and automotive repair & maintenance for all types of vehicles. With over 180 locations across Canada they are North America’s 7th largest tire retailer and 3rd largest commercial tire dealer.

Tirecraft Expands In the Kootenays

If you plan to drive through Cranbrook, BC this summer, you'll see a shiny, new Tirecraft sign perched across from the Railway Museum. You'll also find Tirecraft signs in Trail and Creston. This spring, three former Big O Tire centers in B.C. joined the Tirecraft family.

Gord Hansen, owner of the Creston location, his son Ken Hansen, owner of the Cranbrook store and Gerry (Woody) Woodhouse, owner of the Trail store, made a group decision to sign up with Tirecraft. "Joining Tirecraft will enable us to offer more national brands, it's better for the customer and us," said Gord on the decision to align his company with Tirecraft. Customers can now enjoy the added benefits of Tirecraft's Miles Ahead Customer Security Plan, the TireCard and the Best Buy lineup of tires.

Gord Hansen has been in the trade for more than 40 years. "My first job out of high school in 1962 was in the tire business," he recalls. Gord truly likes running his own business. "There are no pitfalls when you enjoy what you are doing," he said. To keep customers coming back, he makes sure that "service is a fact, not just a promise."

Woody has worked in the automotive industry for about 24 years. He took over the Trail, B.C. store 6 years ago, employing his son and brother in the award winning, family business. The 1929 building was originally constructed as a tire shop and still serves that purpose 75 years later. Woody is involved in the community, serving as the Fire Chief for the Rossland fire department.

Ken Hansen followed in his father's steps and also started in the tire business at a young age. After learning the ropes, Ken bought the Cranbrook store from Gord in 1993. What is the Hansen's secret to long term success? "Do your best to achieve customer satisfaction."

Due to their continual commitment to and delivery of exceptional customer satisfaction all three stores have flourished in the inviting climate of the Kootenays.
